Common rose to prominence as one of hip-hops most poetic and respected lyricists having recorded eight albums to date. The Grammy Award winning artist made his acting debut co-starring opposite Jeremy Piven, Ben Affleck, and Ryan Reynolds in “SMOKIN’ ACES” for Universal Pictures. Since then he’s co-starred opposite Denzel Washington in “AMERICAN GANGSTER”, “STREET KINGS” starring Keanu Reeves, “WANTED” opposite Angelina Jolie, and Morgan Freeman and “TERMINATOR SALVATION” starring Christian Bale. He recently wrapped “DATE NIGHT”, which stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey and has recently completed filming “JUST WRIGHT”, starring opposite Queen Latifah for FOX Searchlight.

Common has also written three children’s books that offer a younger generation a better understanding of self respect and love. His second work, “I Like You but I Love Me” was nominated for an NAACP Award. In 2007, Common launched the Common Ground Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering urban youth while also providing needed resources that will enable them to develop personally and professionally.
