Every holiday season, The National Christmas Tree is decorated with thousands of lights and unique decorations. The tree stands as a daily reminder of the holiday spirit and of this cherished national tradition. Several days after the lighting ceremony through January 1, the grounds open to the public. The lights are typically on from sunset until 10:00 pm Sunday-Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday-Saturday.

Ornaments From Across the USA
Every year, American students from every U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia are invited to design one-of-a-kind ornaments celebrating the history, heritage, and culture of their home. Their creations come together each December in the America Celebrates display, surrounding the National Christmas Tree and open free to all visitors.
