New Jersey
John F. Kennedy Primary School
“Nineteen 4th grade students from the John F. Kennedy Primary School designed ornaments for this year’s New Jersey tree, symbolizing the history, heritage, and culture of our great state. The students learned a lot about New Jersey during the research phase of this project and approached their designs with creativity and enthusiasm. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be remembered fondly by all who participated.” – Claudia B., Teacher

I chose to draw a theme that included a diner because New Jersey is the diner capital of the world. The materials I used to create my diner were a pencil, a sharpie, and colored pencils. I like this symbol because I love to eat at diners and also love their food. I have childhood memories with my family at diners, and I know a lot of other families do too. The diner near me inspired me to create this symbol. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent New Jersey.
